Delilah and Home Depot “Paint the Town” of Belleville

On October 16th and 17th, hundreds of volunteers, the Belleville Community, and Soft Rock 102.5 KEZK gave part of America’s longest Main Street the gift of a fresh coat of paint.

Belleville, Illinois beat out over 100 finalist cities nationwide to receive this opportunity. Delilah’s long time sponsor Home Depot provided the supplies necessary to rejuvenate more than sixty buildings on Belleville’s Main Street.

charter cam logo Paint The TownThe Belleville Paint the Town project took some 14,000 gallons of paint, three miles of caulk, thousands of rolls of painters’ tape, and over 600 volunteers. More than 60 buildings on Belleville’s Main Street were power washed, prepared by professional painters, and painted by volunteers.

Delilah and the other KEZK Air Personalities were on the scene to paint and provide encouragement to the volunteers. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help Paint the Town. Over 800 people volunteered to help us paint. Live entertainment started at 1:00 p.m. on the square on Saturday, and included a performance by Alex Band on Saturday night and Air Supply on Sunday. The GCS Federal Credit Union Kid’s Zone provided entertainment and fun activities for kids.

Belleville is now the second town that Delilah and Home Depot have rejuvenated. The Paint the Town campaign started in Delilah’s home town of Port Orchard, Washington this past fall. With the help of 500 volunteers, Delilah, and Home Depot, they were able to add a fresh layer of paint to over 40 buildings and bring the community together.

The Port Orchard video is great! Is author, Debbie McComber, one of the people in it? I love her books, and also Delilah’s narration of some of her books on tape! I hope to be able to volunteer in Belleville!

This is such an exciting event for any city to participate in. As a resident of belleville myself, I am pleased to hear that our town was chosen for this absolute wonderful opportunity. Thank you very much to everyone who aided in making it possible.

My wife and I bought a house in Belleville just a few months ago. We are very pleased with that decision. I was totally impressed with the art on the square event in the center of Belleville. I recently found out our house may be built on top of mines. Now Delilah has selected Belleville to paint. Hooray and wishing the best to Delilah. We listen to her show every evening. We certainly want to volunteer with this project.

All volunteers have been notified via email, with the intitial notification along with necessary release forms to print and fill out. I imagine if you have not received an email notice, that they have already filled all volunteer positions. However, you are encouraged and urged to stop downtown, ESPECIALLY along the West Main area from 8th-17th Streets. Store specials such as free incense with every purchase at Bear Book & Candle, Belleville’s oldest and only Metaphysical & Spirituality shop. Also, stop by for a Psychic Reading by Loving Rose, you and your PETS are both welcome! Call Bear Book & Candle Tues/Thurs/Sat 11-6pm for details! SUPPORT YOUR DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES :)

I’m curios, I tried to sign up to volunteer several weeks ago and never got a response as did a lot of people. When I found out Air Supply was playing, that was just icing on the cake. Volunteer and get to see a favorite band. Now that I didn’t get a response, is the concert just for volunteers or is it open to the public?? The different websites contradict each other. This one says a Thank you performance for volunteers but then it says free and open to all ages?? Other sites say it’s just for volunteers…Which is true???? I would love to have helped paint and see the show….confused

what a nice bunch of people I met today if only life could be that easy. We painted the heck out of some buildings and the pay ended being much more than money could bring. It was nice to see and talk to the Mayor of Belleville as well as Ms. Delilah herself. To conclude the day the Police Chief stopped where we were painting and we had a short but nice conversation great day and great people can’t wait until next year lol
