Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall took the world by storm with a series of well received singles from her 2004 album Eye to the Telescope. Suddenly I See is Tunstall’s best selling song to date, reaching the number 12 spot in the UK and 21 in the US.
Tunstall says that Suddenly I See was written about female songwriting forerunner Patti Smith with a message of finding personal power as a woman. The song was later used in Devil Wears Prada with the lyrics presented as pursuing physical beauty instead of personal strength. To say the least, Tunstall was displeased.
